Decked Out

The turkey leftovers will soon have been turned into pies and soups and stews and sandwiches. Bellies full, come kick start the holiday shopping season with handcrafted goodness at the Prudential Center Artisan Market.

Albertine Press will be participating this Sunday only!

Poppytalk Handmade Online Marketplace

We're participating in this month's Poppytalk Handmade Marketplace. There's a fabulous collection of designers and creators this month (including us!). If you can't make time for a handmade marketplace in person, definitely check out the online version.

Spotted in the wild

For the past several months, we've been shipping card orders to Paper Source, a nation-wide chain of fabulous stores with four local branches. Ever since I've been keeping my eyes peeled to see when the cards hit the shelves. Well, here they are!

They picked up the Marisa holiday cards "Snowman Gothic" and "Twas the Night", both cute and different from the regular fare at PS.

After pointing out the cards to the staff at the store in Cambridge (where I'm known), they kindly repositioned the Snowman Gothic up at eye level, right next to its friend.

Where have you seen Albertine Press lately?

Ho ho holidays... already?

The holiday craft fair season will kick off for us this weekend with the Boston Design Salon's Holiday Sale.

The Design Salon is a group of local ladies who work in design related businesses, meeting regularly to hobnob about design, business and all things between. Some of the craftier salonistas have come together to put on this first of many future holiday trunk shows.

Salon members and their guests are invited to an evening of cocktails and private shopping on Friday from 7 to 9 (see the Design Salon site for rsvp information).

The event is free and open to the public all day Saturday, November 15, from 10 am until 5 pm. We are being graciously hosted by the Kindsley Montessori School, located at 26 Exeter Street, just off Newbury.

2009 Calendars - take one

I'm excited to announce that the first of three new 2009 calendars by Albertine Press is ready and on sale at our Etsy store.

Inspired by all of the bookbinding we've been doing with Angela during our workshops, this year we are offering a limited-edition, miniature, hand-bound, hard-cover, accordion calendar.

The calendar features old-fashioned cuts from nature inspired by each month (at least up here in the north east) printed in a soft sage green. The month blocks are printed in a lovely gray ink. Inside paper is one of our favorites, a soft, 100% cotton Somerset velvet stock. It's also a signed and numbered edition of 70.

I just couldn't make up my mind about what paper to bind the covers in, so we went with four different hand-made papers: a hand-sponged speckled paper, a Florentine traditional pattered paper, and two hand-made Japanese papers (one textured, one smooth).

It's a really beautiful, little display calendar that will delight all year long.
