Calligraphy night

Last night the ladies of Albertine (the gentlemen declined) headed out for an evening of calligraphy with Liz Roessler of Lettering by Liz. She welcomed us into her charming North End studio where we were able to poke through her work, ooh-ing and aah-ing, catching glimpses of a few familiar projects, before settling in for our work of the evening.

Liz had prepared us each a calligraphy kit and proceeded to work our new nibs and wrists while we learned to use the correct pressure (way more than I'd ever imagined, or done in my own amateur calligraphy work) for the nice broad strokes. It was a great experience for everyone and we can't wait to do it again!

Some of Liz's work - I just adore the mixed styles and the special touch of the vintage "and" and dots around the zip code.

This is one of the menus we did for clients about a month ago. Liz lettered each guest's name atop the menus.

This style is my favorite - I just love the density of the text paired with the whimsical curlicues.

A note to couples looking to hire Liz - contact her WAY in advance. She is generally booked up as much as six months out. Thanks, Liz!!!

Letter perfect

Earlier this week I received the loveliest piece of mail! Some of my favorite clients, Danielle and Ben, were kind enough to send me a copy of their completed invitation sets.

The jaw-droppingly gorgeous calligraphy is by Pier Gustafson. I love the string and the seal that they used to tie together the invitations. The couple is getting married in Mexico, so we used a simple agave motif throughout (they even used it on the seal, and found vintage stamps to match).

The beautiful idea behind the invitation was to send it as a letter to their friends and family. That personal touch combined with all of the vintage-inspired styling turned an ordinary invitation into something really spectacular.

Thanks for sharing and congratulations to you both!

Bello Photography - Stacia & Colin

I worked with Stacia and Colin throughout the planning process - from save the dates right on through to wedding day paper goods. They were a delight to work with, and their photographers, Andy and Christine from Bello Photography were so kind as to share these photos from the event.

The calligraphy on the escort cards, as well as the stunning hand-painted table numbers was done by Lynne of Inviting Company.

Congratulations Stacia and Colin and beautiful work from my co-vendors! Thanks everyone for sharing.
